Armed Robbery of Pizza Restaurant and Bank in Colorado Springs
Two days ago in Colorado Springs, a popular restaurant, Louie’s Pizza, was robbed at gunpoint. According to The Gazette, the suspect is still at large. If caught, the robber will be facing charges of Aggravated Robbery, a Class 3 Felony in Douglas and El Paso County.
Last week, a FirstBank in Colorado Springs was also robbed at gunpoint, leaving the employees more than a little shocked. As is the case with Louie’s Pizza, the bank robber still has not been apprehended, though a security camera was able to capture a photo of the robber.
Robbery VS Aggravated Robbery in Douglas County
In Douglas County and throughout Colorado, Robbery is defined as “A person who knowingly takes anything of value from the person or presence of another by the use of force, threats, or intimidation commits robbery” (C.R.S. 18-4-301).
Aggravated Robbery is when, during the act of robbery or immediate flight therefrom, the robber:
- is armed with a deadly weapon with intent, if resisted, to kill, maim, or wound the person robbed or any other person; or
- knowingly wounds or strikes the person robbed or any other person with a deadly weapon or by the use of force, threats, or intimidation with a deadly weapon knowingly puts the person robbed or any other person in reasonable fear of death or bodily injury; or
- has present a confederate, aiding or abetting the perpetration of the robbery, armed with a deadly weapon, with the intent, either on the part of the defendant or confederate, if resistance is offered, to kill, maim, or wound the person robbed or any other person, or by the use of force, threats, or intimidation puts the person robbed or any other person in reasonable fear of death or bodily injury; or
- possesses any article used or fashioned in a manner to lead any person who is present reasonably to believe it to be a deadly weapon or represents verbally or otherwise that he is then and there so armed. (C.R.S. 18-4-302)

Robbery is a class 4 felony, with a maximum sentence of 6 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections and/or a $500,000 fine.
