Robbery in Colorado Springs is an offense that occurs when someone knowingly takes something of value from another person (or in their presence) via force, intimidation, or threats.   • a robber or accomplice is armed with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, maim, or wound another person,

  • by the use of force, threats, or intimidation with a deadly weapon, places the person robbed or any other individual in fear of death or bodily injury,
  • represents they are armed with a deadly weapon or possesses any item made to represent a deadly weapon

Finally, Aggravated Robbery of Controlled Substances C.R.S. 18-4-303 involves:

  • someone committing aggravated robbery as described above,
  • and the objective is to obtain controlled substances from a pharmacy, pharmacist, or other location / person with lawful possession of the drugs

Punishments for Robbery in Colorado Springs

The potential consequences of a robbery conviction in Colorado are steep. Simple robbery is a class 4 felony with possible consequences of:

  • 2 – 6 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections,
  • a fine of between $2,000 – $500,000

Conviction of class 3 felony aggravated robbery can include heavier punishments, such as:

  • 4 – 16 years in prison,
  • a fine of up to $750,000.

Finally, if convicted of aggravated robbery of controlled substances, class 2 felony punishments can apply that include 16 – 48 years in prison and fines of up to $1,000,000.
