Child Abuse Attorney Near Me in Castle Rock

Father Accused of Putting Kids in Dryer
Putting a child in a dangerous situation is charged as Child Abuse in Castle Rock and Douglas County – even if no injuries are sustained. A father is facing these charges after putting his 3 year old son and 2 year old daughter in the dryer and videoing it. According to the report, the man posted putting his daughter in the dryer and closing the door, which lead to her screams. He then puts his son in and turns on the machine, watching him tumble around a few times. He posted the videos to Snapchat and when some school staff saw the videos, police were called. The father claimed he was trying to teach his son a lesson about fear, but I’m not sure that will be a viable defense in court. The dad was arrested and charged with Child Abuse.

Douglas County Child Abuse Attorney: Definition of Child Abuse

The Douglas County, Colorado law definition of Child Abuse – C.R.S. 18-6-401 – is:

“

A person commits child abuse if such person causes an injury to a child's life or health, or permits a child to be unreasonably placed in a situation that poses a threat of injury to the child's life or health, or engages in a continued pattern of conduct that results in malnourishment, lack of proper medical care, cruel punishment, mistreatment, or an accumulation of injuries that ultimately results in the death of a child or serious bodily injury to a child.”

Putting a child in a dryer would definitely constitute placing them in a situation that poses a threat of injury. Especially since he actually turned it on when his son was inside.
